Pantone Colour Institute has published 18-3838 ultra violet as 2018 colour of the year. Their experts have arrived to the conclusion based on their deep-dive analysis and research on wide array of topics from fashion, art, technology, interior design, to entertainment such as music, film, sport, and travel. But as Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute said- “The Pantone Colour of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today.”
Violet and its shades in overall represent wealth, wisdom, grandeur, extravagance, royalty, culture, creativity, peace, pride, dignity, devotion, romance, mystery, independence, and magic. However as it comes to ultra violet , colour expert at Pantone Colour Institute says: “A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”
One might question, so how to decorate with ultra violet? How to achieve representation of this colour in your décor? Well, it can be quite tricky, but you can do so in three different ways: by using it as an accent, soften it with other colours such as purple, lilac, pinks, blues, greys, creams, or embrace a “moody” theme by pushing your boundaries.
